Instructions for Compressing Photos to send in for PublicationMany people when they take photos don't realise what size they are when saved.
Most digital cameras will save photos at 5+ megabytes (mb), which is far too big to email, and to put on the web. So, there are two ways to do it: 1. Upload directly to our web albums, or 2. Compress and send them to me Compressing is probably easiest HOWEVER, IF YOU WANT TO SEND IN MORE THAN 35 PHOTOS (AND WE DON'T MIND IF YOU DO) ... PLEASE UPLOAD THEM TO THE WEB ALBUMS DIRECTLY (DIRECTIONS ON THE RIGHT) otherwise our Bigpond bill will be through the roof!! You can use almost any photo editing program but if your computer is running Windows, you will have Microsoft Office Picture Manager installed by default (go to Start > Programs > Microsoft Office> Microsoft Office Tools > Microsoft Office Picture Manager) (this is our favourite as it is the most user friendly - some programs called it "compressing" and some call it "resizing" ) If you are an Apple user, you will need to use the iPhotos software that comes installed. Process The easier way is to save all your photos to a convenient folder on your hard drive, then: 1. Right mouse button click on a photo in the folder where you have saved it and a drop down menu should appear; 2. select "Open With > Microsoft Office Picture Manager"; 3. Once the box opens you should see a tab up the top that says Edit Pictures - click that; 4. when the right hand pane opens you will see a button choice - choose "Compress Pictures"; 5. Select "Documents" and down the bottom of the pane you should see the size of the photo change to around 350kb - select OK (you won't lose any resolution); 6. click the right or left arrow at the bottom centre of the page to move from photo to photo; 7. Once you have done them all select File > Save All 8. You will now find it easy to email us the whole album in one email |
Instructions for Direct Uploading to our Web Albums siteFor our convenience (as we have hundreds of albums to catalogue each season) we ask that you save your photos in albums in a uniform way.
The naming protocol that we use is: "Round No - team - opposition - Photographer surname" So, for example: "7-12R-Eddies-Smith" (it also makes it easier to put combined albums together at the end of the season) Once you have your photos saved on your computer you can upload them by going to our Web Albums site on Google Process 1. Go to https://picasaweb.google.com 2. Click the "Sign In" button (top right) 3. Login & Password: ....[you'll need to contact us for that - send an email or ring the webmaster on (0439) 715643] 4. Once inside the site, you will see all of the albums already uploaded. (please don't play around with them...) 5. Click on the "Upload" button at the top of the menu bar 6. Click the blue button "Select Photos from your computer" 7. A dialogue box will open - find your album on your computer and Select All of the photos in the album (Keyboard Shortcut Hint: click "Control + A") 8.Click the "Open" button at bottom right and your photos will upload. 9.Once uploaded click on your album - copy the code that appears in the URL address bar - (For example: https://picasaweb.google.com/115959371345657500026/614SEddiesMcAuliffe?authkey=Gv1sRgCKODzaGuvcTZLQ) 10. Paste into an email and send that to us in the body of the email and we will do the rest. 11. Once we are in your album, we will copy and embed a small paragraph of web code into our site, which automatically shows the slideshow as if it were stored on our website. |
REMEMBER if you are sending more than 35 photos- we prefer it if you directly upload them to the Web Albums, as described on the right.
.........and you are done! Happy snapping!!

Our sons love to see themselves in game situations, and the Club wants to put as many photos of their enjoyment of the game as possible on our website and create great memories for the boys. What fun to look back over the years and remember the sheer joy of playing with your mates, from the age of 10 onwards.
We are always looking for photographers. If you have a good camera and are willing to take shots of your son(s) teams, we would love to have you as a volunteer. In fact, the quality is not even the most important thing - the MEMORIES are.....
All it will take is the time that you will be watching your son play, and a few minutes to email the photos to us, after the game.
Obviously, we understand that most of us only want to photograph our own sons' teams, which is fair enough, but we never have quite enough photographers, so if you can be flexible that would be great. At this stage, we are just looking for expressions of interest, until our sons are graded..
All you have to do is take anywhere from 15 to 30 shots per game, and email them into the Webmaster, as soon as you can after the game.
We will endeavour to have them all posted as a slideshow on your team's page (My Team tab), as soon as we receive them.
At the end of the season we will put all the photos into team albums and your boys will have some terrific memories in the years to come.
Just let us know via the Contact Form below or shoot the Webmaster an email, if you can help.
