Match Official Abuse and Referees Protocols
Unfortunately the abuse of match officials is on the rise. It seems that some players, coaches, team officials, parents and/or spectators think it is ok to abuse the match officials. They are not fair game for people to take out their frustrations. The referee does not abuse a player for making a mistake, or abuse the coach for not having the best game tactics and so the referee should not be harrassed if they make a mistake.
Match officials are also volunteers who are giving up their precious time so our boys can play and enjoy a game of rugby. As with the players, without the referee there would be no game! The abuse of match officials by Marist players, parents and spectators will not be tolerated. It is all our job to ensure that the match officials are properly respected, in particular Marist team officials are to set the example and take an active role to prevent the abuse of officials.
