IRON CHEFS | Each year we call for volunteers for our barbecue, which has developed a most formidable reputation as one of the best Rugby eating venues in Canberra. Staffed by dedicated Dads, who have become known far and wide as "The Iron Chefs" it is a great gathering place on each of our home game days, from first light when we feed the ground setup volunteers, right through the day when we feed the masses and complement the brilliant work of our Canteen volunteers, right through to kick-off in the First XV game at 3.00 pm.
Over the years, the Iron Chefs have formed a tight bond and a great social group which has been known to organise the odd social event, golf day etc, so if you are that way inclined, would like to meet some like-minded individuals, and have a bit of fun along the way, please get in touch with the Rugby Master, MIck Grealish or the webmaster Our motto is Multis Nuitrimens Extrico Consilium For the non-latin speakers this means ‘great food, not to mention free advice...(whether you want it or not..)’ You will not only be trained in the finer points of cooking but will also learn from the Masters the art of providing free advice across an unlimited range of subjects. No topic is a challenge - no question is too trivial - no answer is anything less than prescient....and you can't get into too much trouble if you finish off the sentence with: .."do you want onions with your snag?.." Another incentive is the opportunity to attend official "Iron Chef" events such as out of season tours and sporting challenges where you can test your skills against the old hands, your betting skills against the experts of the turf, and experience the gastronomic delights on our home days. Breakfast and lunch provided. If you can only do an hour or two, throughout the day, that is no problem. Prospective Apprentices should contact Mick Grealish, the Rugby Master or email webmaster@maristrugby.com.au to arrange initial screening and suitability for these prestigious and highly sought after positions....or just fill in the contact form on the left. ________________________________________________________________________ NOTE: We should know the dates of our home games by the end of Term 1, so watch this space, and the Club Calendar In the comments box, please let us know what times you will be able to assist. The barbecue runs from about 8 am right through to half time in the 2nd XV game (around 2.30). Timing is flexible and we normally have three helpers on the BBQ at any given time. Please feel free to just turn up, and whack an apron on! |
