U10 Sky v Royals 23 Aug 14

Match Report and Photos courtesy of Jono Beesley

Score 7 - 7 (Draw)

An unfortunate result to what was an excellent and committed team effort for the boys. Unfortunate because the draw saw us finish 3rd on the ladder for the season and thus not go through to the Grand Final next week. Regardless it was a great end to an excellent season that saw the boys all the important values of teamwork, respect, and humility in victory and defeat. It has been great to see all the boys grow from the rugby experience this season both as individuals and as a team - it has been a pleasure to get to know them, as well as all of the parents who have been outstanding supporters and helpers for the boys and the team. It all bodes well for the future of rugby at Marist.

U10 Sky v Easts 9 Aug 14

Score 12 - 7 to Easts

A hard fought game this week in bitterly cold conditions. The boys stuck it out right through to the end but unfortunately couldn't break the defence of Easts.

U10 Sky v Burgmann 2 Aug 14

Score 29 - 7 to Marist

A great comeback from the previous week's loss this week after a focused training session on Wednesday and some words about the importance of training and discipline. The boys started well with good clearing out and some excellent low tackles opening up some space out wide for some long running tries. The score at half time provided a good buffer going into the second half. The boys continued the pressure in the second half with some more good tackling and we saw the ball spread wide on a couple of occasions to once again reap rewards. A great team effort and good win.

U10 Sky v SEC 26 Jul 14

Score 22 - 12 to SEC

It was a cold and foggy early start for the boys this week - a hard fought game after the holiday break. Unfortunately for us we had to play three subs as Eddies could only manage ten which was a little disruptive, however the boys started out well and reaped the rewards with a great team try. Eddies kept in touch on the score board and by half time the scores were even. Mid way through the second half, with a lapse of concentration and some missed tackles Eddies put on a couple of unanswered tries. The boys persevered with a couple of strong attacks to be rewarded with a late try but time and the score got away from us. In sum, a good loss to have at this point in the season.

U10 Sky v Yass 28 Jun 14

Match Report and Photos courtesy of Jono Beesley

A good win to the U10 Sky boys this week, 33-14, consolidating their top of the table standing. A good team effort in the first half with the forwards clearing the rucks for clean ball to the backs. The backs spun it wide again to result in some quality team tries. The boys were up on the score board early and held a strong position into the second half. Yass then produced some quality rugby in the second half and clawed back the score but the boys held on for a strong win. A couple of weeks break ahead with the school holidays - enjoy.

Score: 12-7 to Marist

A great result for the U10 Sky team this week. In a hard fought match the boys defeated Royals who were undefeated until this game. Royals scored and converted mid way through the first term but Marist managed to claw back with a try to Zac Jenkins close to half time to take the score to 7-5 to Royals. The second half was evenly matched but Marist managed to stick to the guidance provided by Nick and Joe (Senior boy coaches) and sent the ball wide on every occasion. This payed off with a near length of the field try to Will Green with about 5 minutes to go. The try was converted by Dylan Kirsten taking the final score to 12-7 to Marist. A great team effort by the boys and just reward for their efforts - taking out the top team.

U10 Sky v Easts 14 Jun 14

Score: 19-5 to Marist

Last weekend the U10 Sky team took on a very well drilled Easts team at North Curtin Oval. The boys were down 5-0 at half time but showed great patience and perseverance to come back strong in the back end of the second half to win 19-5. There were a few standouts amongst the team but the allocation of points at the end of the game reflected a great team effort - ie each boy was awarded 3 points.

This win took the boys to second on the ladder having won 5 out of 6 games so far this season. This week we play Royals at Marist which will be a tough game against the top of the table team.

Now that access to this site is up and running I will populate each week with reports and photo's.
